Antique VICTORIAN EASTLAKE period 2-piece Secretary / Bookcase, all ORIGINAL, dates to about 1880, made from WALNUT.
The top has two glass doors - original panes of glass with waviness in it - and three adjustable shelves. The doors lock with original metal key.
The bottom Secretary has a sliding desk, with a compartment inserts and solid rolltop cylinder sliding over the desk area. The bottom piece also has one shallow and two deep drawers, each individually lockable by a second original key, which is not interchangeable with the glass bookcase doors key.
Carved reliefs, incised lines, moldings. Secret compartment? Period's original hardware: Two original keys. Rolling on four wheels.
A true Antique to be treasured. It is a Magnificent example of VICTORIAN EASTLAKE period furniture and the details are phenomenal. Height is about 88" width 41" depth 24 ".
